TLA (Troop Leadership Academy) is the Greater Los Angeles Area Council's training for new (or new again) units. The primary focus in 2019 and 2020 will be to bootstrap our new female troops; however, in the long term TLA will be for all new units.

TLA encorporates all the elements of Scouts BSA Leader Outdoor Training (IOLS), Scoutmaster Position Specific Training, and general unit administration. In addition to normal classes, workshops will be held for Q&A sessions and best practices discussions.

Youth leaders will complete ILST and learn how to run the course themselves in their own unit. The Leading EDGE and Teaching EDGE will be explained and demonstrated; students will then be guided in its use and finally enabled to take this tool of the trade back to their units as well.

Over the course of 2 days (Saturday to Sunday) your instructors will cover all the subjects required for you to experience the outdoors with your Scouts -- we'll even all enjoy a campfire together.
